Application of PC Plastic in Car Lamp

1. Transparent parts:

A. Lamp housing: (Lens)

PC plastic is used on lamp shells of headlights, fog lamps and corner lamps. It mainly uses PC's high transparency (visible light transmittance is about 88 ~ 90% when the thickness is 3mm), high impact resistance (notched Izod impact strength is above 80 kg-cm/cm) and high thermal deformation temperature (above 135°C when the load is 4.6 kg/cm 2), in the shape can be more streamlined design (glass lamp shell is difficult to achieve).

PC plastic applied to headlight lamp shell is generally transparent and colorless new material, and it is a new material with ultraviolet absorber added. Tempering treatment must be done to eliminate the residual stress during molding. Tempering condition is to place the molded product in an environment of 120°C for more than 2 hours (lower than HDT 5~10°C X4 ~ 8 hours is preferred).

The PC lamp shell used for headlamps must be Coating with a layer of hard resin on its surface to protect the soft PC from scratches and solvent erosion. This layer of resin processing can be divided into Thermoset and UV curing coatings, the effect of UV curing is better.

B.内套: (Inner Lens)

PC plastic for the inner sleeve, must pay attention to heat resistance and color problems:

A. heat resistance problem: if the inner sleeve of the rear lamp or corner lamp is cup-shaped, attention should be paid to the heating condition of the inner wall. the heating factors include the space or size of the cup-shaped inner sleeve, the wattage of the bulb, the function of the bulb (direction lamp, brake lamp, reversing lamp, etc.), the distance from the bulb (wire) to the inner sleeve, whether the inner sleeve itself has heat dissipation design (the inner sleeve hole above the bulb), etc. If the inner sleeve of the rear lamp or corner lamp is plate-shaped (with fisheye or pattern), the heat condition is lower than that of the cup-shaped one. Regardless of the cup-shaped or plate-shaped inner sleeve, its heating temperature should not exceed 140°C (new material), otherwise it may cause deformation.

B. chromaticity problem: PC plastic must be dyed (except natural color) when used in the inner sleeve. The direction lamp is amber, the brake/driving lamp is red, and the headlight and reversing lamp are white. If regular cars and modified car lights must pass the legal certification, their color and chromaticity shall conform to the legal standards of chromaticity.

2. Opaque parts:

A. Secondary Mirrors (RS):

PC plastic is used on RS, and most of them need vacuum aluminum evaporation: if the whole RS needs evaporation, black PC plastic is better; If only part of RS needs to be evaporated, that is, if the color of the original material can be seen from the appearance, the color of the original material must be selected according to the color of KD piece and compared with the existing PC color plate, so as to avoid the customer complaint of color difference. PC plastic for RS. In addition, attention should be paid to the appearance quality (most of the lamp shells of RS lamps are transparent lamp shells without patterns) and the heat resistance of vacuum primer during vacuum aluminum evaporation.

B. Mirror (R) or Base (B):.

PC plastic is used on R or B. If the back color must be retained or vacuum aluminum evaporation is not required (such as side sign lights or modified car lights, etc.), the appropriate color number shall be selected and shaped according to the color of KD parts and compared with the existing PC color plates to avoid color difference complaints.
